🌹🐎 Kentucky Derby Watch Party — Event Recap
Our Rochester Alumnae Panhellenic Derby Watch Party was a lively, laughter‑filled evening that brought out everyone’s Southern spirit. Guests arrived in festive Derby attire, enjoyed a full BBQ supper, and sipped Oaks Lilies, Mint Juleps, and mocktails while mingling and taking in the slideshow of the night’s best moments.
And of course, the race itself delivered unforgettable drama. Just before the start, as horses were being loaded into the gates, Great White, reared up and fell backwards. He tipped over onto his side on the track, throwing jockey Alex. At the end of the race, Golden Tempo won the 2026 Kentucky Derby, ridden by jockey Jose Ortiz and trained by Cherie DeVaux. The 23-1 long shot rallied from last place to secure a historic victory, making DeVaux the first female trainer to win the opening leg of the Triple Crown!
From games and prizes to great food, great company, and a truly memorable Derby, the evening was a wonderful celebration of sisterhood, fun, and tradition.
